They will be forced to cancel their golden passports

				11.05.2022
The EU and the US are developing legislation that could negatively affect Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, St. Kitts and Nevis, and St. Lucia, if these states do not cancel their programs to obtain gold passports in exchange for investment. The UK has also canceled its program for obtaining a golden passport and is checking the documents already issued under this scheme in the state.

Since the pressure from the US and the EU is high enough, Caribbean countries "selling" citizenship will have to find other ways of attracting investment. It is difficult to say what amount is at stake: states usually do not publish the amount of the income from such programs. However, a recent report by the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank showed that Caribbean countries have received 542.9 million Eastern Caribbean dollars (184.7 million US dollars) from gold passport programs in 2019, and most of this amount was received in Dominica, St. Kitts and Nevis and Grenada.
